Around 300 cricketers from 64 districts submitted a 17-point list of demands to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Sunday. They congratulated the new BCB president Faruque Ahmed and expressed their desire to meet with him, but the BCB chief is currently in Malaysia attending an ACC meeting.

Later, the new board director Nazmul Abedin Fahim met with the cricketers at the academy ground and assured them that most of their demands would be addressed.

The cricketers' demands include the establishment of a fixed schedule for domestic cricket and the organization of leagues by forming a second-tier team in each division of the National Cricket League (NCL). They also requested that the top 30 players from the first, second and third Division Cricket League-90 players in total-be included under a salary cap.

In addition, the cricketers urged clubs to adopt more professional practices when signing contracts with Dhaka League clubs. They called for the organization of first, second and third division leagues, as well as T20 leagues. They also requested the introduction of three-day cricket matches in the final stage of the national championship, improvement of umpiring standards and pitch quality, provision of ODI and T20 leagues and better practice facilities in every district of the country.

The cricketers also demanded that BCB's salaried coaches should not be allowed to work in any private academies. They suggested that Dhaka First Division League matches should be live-streamed online and that the Cricketers Welfare Association (CWAB) should be restructured and allowed to operate independently.

Additionally, they called for the cricket board to take responsibility for the treatment of registered cricketers who get injured, to ensure that third-division qualifiers are held on time with the lowest entry fee and to open the franchise league players' draft to all cricketers.

BCB Director Fahim found most of the cricketers' demands to be reasonable. He told the cricketers, "It's not about what the cricket board or I will gain-it's about what will benefit cricket. We need to consider what's best for the game and the cricket board will do whatever it can within its capacity."

He added, "Starting district-level cricket, improving wickets at the district level, ensuring the welfare of players and increasing competition through fair decisions are all things the Cricket Board must address. We will keep an eye on these issues.

You can be sure of one thing that the cricket board will try to support you as much as it can. You should be able to showcase your talent by playing cricket and be evaluated accordingly. While it may not be possible to fulfill all your demands immediately, we wish to ensure that both you and cricket benefit."
