Dengue claims one more life, 463 hospitalized

One person died of dengue patient while 463 were hospitalized across the country in the last 24 hours till Sunday morning. 
 
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), now the death toll is 96. 
Among the new patients, 193 were hospitalised in Dhaka city, while 270 were admitted to different hospitals outside it. This year, the total number of cases rose to 15,670 since January 1, 2024, the statement added.

Last year, the country recorded 1,705 dengue-related deaths and a total of 3,21,179 dengue cases.
 
Meanwhile, according to a DGHS survey released recently showed that the risky wards of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) are 12, 13, 20, 36, 31, 32, 17 and 33 while the vulnerable wards of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) are 4, 13, 52, 54, 16, 3, 5, 15, 17 and 23, the survey added.

LGRD and Cooperatives Adviser AF  Hassan Ariff on Sunday said that through the dengue situation in the country was under tolerable level, government has been working to ensure zero death in the mosquito-borne disease.
 
He mentioned that seven people were killed in Dengue on September 8 last year but one person was reported dead in Dengue on Sunday. He showed his firm commitment to bring the death from dengue to zero. The adviser said they have already taken measures to prevent increase of dengue cases giving utmost importance on treatment and creating awareness.

The adviser made the remarks while talking to newsmen after meeting on prevention of dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases at the Secretariat in Dhaka.
