Rapid Action Battalion (
RAB) on Sunday arrested the prime accused of a youth killing case in
Barisal's Gournadi upazila.
The accused Al Amin, a resident of Boro Dulali area in the upazila, was arrested from a local market at Shariatpur on Saturday night.
RAB-8 media wing confirmed the detention in a press release on Sunday.
According to the case statement, the accused demanded Tk one lakh from the victim Rashed Shikder as extortion. When the victim denied to pay the money, the accused along with his cohorts attacked him at Barthee Bazaar in the upazila on August 16. Later, when the victim took shelter in front of a store, the attackers hit him in his head, leaving him critically injured.
Locals rescued him and took to Gournadi Upazila Health Complex where the physicians reffered him to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital. But Rashed succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.
Later, the victim's brother Rasel Shikder filed a
murder case with Gournadi Police Station.
Following the case, RAB-8 conducted several raids and arrested the prime accused, reads the press release, adding that during the primary questioning, Al Amin confessed his involvement in the crime.
