The government has appointed Zakir Hossain Chowdhury and Md Kabir Ahmed as deputy governors of Bangladesh Bank.

The Financial Institutions Division under the Ministry of Finance issued a notification over the appointments on Sunday.
Their appointments will remain effective for three years from the date of joining.

Zakir Hossain Chowdhury and Md Kabir Ahmed currently hold the position of executive director at the central bank.

After the mass uprising on August 5, two deputy governors of the central bank, Kazi Saidur Rahman and Khurshid Alam, stepped down.

In response, the government formed a search committee on August 12, led by former Comptroller and Auditor General Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury, to fill the vacant posts.
