Jamaat activist killed in road accident in Netrakona

An activist of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami was killed another four were injured after a truck hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Kendua upazila in Netrakona district on Saturday evening. 

 The accident happened at Mayazkandi area on the Netrakona-Kendua road in the upazila. 

The deceased was identified as Ekhlas Uddin, 65, a resident of Maska union in the upazila. 

It was learnt that the accident happened in the area while some activists of Jamaat Islam were returning home by a CNG-run auto-rickshaw after attending a conference of the party, leaving some of them critically injured. 

Locals rescued them and took them to local upazila health complex, later they were referred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for better treatment. But, Ekhlas Uddin died on the way to Mymensingh.   

Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Kendua Police Station, confirmed the matter.
