Bangladesh Bank lifts cash withdrawal limit

Bangladesh Bank (BB) has officially lifted all restrictions on cash withdrawals from banks, citing improvements in the law and order situation.

The announcement, made by BB Executive Director and Spokesperson Md Mezbaul Haque, indicates that from Sunday, customers can withdraw any amount of money without limitation.
This decision comes a month after the central bank imposed restrictions in response to deteriorating security conditions. On August 7, BB set a daily withdrawal limit of Taka 1 lakh per account, following an alarming situation where law enforcement agencies were refraining from duties after violent clashes and attacks.

The withdrawal limits have been gradually relaxed in recent weeks. Last week, the cap was raised to Tk 5 lakh, while the previous week saw the limit at Tk 4 lakh per day.

With law and order now stabilizing, BB has deemed it appropriate to lift the limits entirely, offering greater financial flexibility for customers across the country.
