SIRAJGANJ, Sept 7: Police recovered the body of a van puller from a pond near a brick kiln in Salonga of Sirajganj on Saturday afternoon, two days after he went missing.
The deceased has been identified as Munzil Sheikh, 42, son of Achab Ali, from Raghunathpur village in Salonga.
The body was found with hands and feet tied near the Desh Brick Kiln in Raghunathpur, under Solonga Police Station in Raiganj Upazila, around 12:30pm.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) SM Robiul Islam of Salonga Police Station confirmed the matter.
According to the OC, Munzil left home with his van on Thursday and did not return. After extensive searching, his family filed a general diary (GD) with Salonga Police Station on Friday.
Locals later spotted Munzil's body in a pond near the brick kiln and informed the police. The body has been sent to Shaheed M. Monsur Ali Medical College Hospital for an autopsy, the OC said.
An investigation is ongoing, and a case has been filed in connection with the incident, he added. —UNB
