The National Board of revenue (NBR) said it has set up a committee to coordinate import-export and cross border transit of goods at all custom houses, two airports and some customs stations in the country, NBR said it in a circular recently.
As per the notification, this committee has been formed by making the commissioner of each custom house and customs station convener of the committee and the deputy commissioner of the district as the member secretary. The 24-member committee will have representatives from 22 other organizations.
In the light of WTO-TFA, the committee's scope of work is to identify and remove obstacles in the field of import-export and transit trade through respective custom houses, international airports and land customs stations.
Apart from this, it has been decided to implement decisions of the National Trade Facilitation Committee, organize at least one meeting every three months at the respective customs houses, airport customs stations, land customs stations.
They have been asked to send appropriate recommendations to the relevant authorities to resolve the trade-related obstacles and follow actins at the follow-up meeting of the coordination committee.
