Garment sector unrest will end soon: Finance Advisor

Finance and commerce advisor Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed said, discussions were held with owners, workers, leaders of the business organizations and political parties to reduce the ongoing unrest in the garment sector. 

They have been given a message. Political parties are also cooperating. Problems will be resolved soon, he said answering a question at the end of a meeting at Bangladesh Institute of Governance Management (BIGM) at Agargaon on Saturday. 

On the question that some political parties are fueling unrest in industrial factories, he said, "It is there, but many are cooperating." Hopefully it will be resolved soon, he pointed out.

The adviser also said NBR will catch money now launderers easily as there is no opportunity to whiten black money which has been scrapped.

Regarding market manipulation, he said DCs have been directed to be strict against hoarders and extortionists. If hoarding and extortion decreases, prices of daily commodities will decrease. 

He said taxes on potatoes and onions have been reduced. Prevailing price should not be seen only in Kawranbazar, other markets should also be seen. He said everyday goods changed hands at least four times in Kaowranbazar. It will be closed. The government is taking a tough stance against market manipulators.

Regarding the Ruppur nuclear power plant, he said one unit should be commissioned first. After that, commissioning of the second unit will begin. Let's start one first.
