A guard of Kashimpur Central Jail has been arrested along with hemp and Yaba pills on Saturday.
The arrested Sobuj Hasan, 24, is hailed from Dhaka's Dhamrai upazila and served as a guard of Kashimpur Central Jail-2.
According to the jail sources, Sobuj was attempting to smuggle the drugs into the prison through Hana RP gate. At that time, the other guards wanted to check him but Sobuj managed to escape the scene.
Later, the guards recovered 960 grams hemp, 97 pieces of Yaba from his possession in presence of Jailer.
The arrested was handed over to Konabari Police Station to take legal actions against him.
Amirul Islam, senior jail superintendent of Kashimpur Central Jail-2, confirmed the information.
Officer-in-charge of the police station Shah Alam said a case was filed with the police station under Narcotics Control Act and legal actions will be taken against the accused.
