A Dhaka court has sent Dilip Kumar Agarwala, managing director of Diamond World Limited, to jail following his remand in a case over the murder of one Hridoy Ahmed during the anti-discrimination student movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Dilruba Afroz Tithi passed the order on Saturday as the investigating officer of the case, Sub-Inspector Md Sadeq of Badda Police Station, produced Agarwala before the court after a three-day remand and prayed to confine him in jail until the investigation ends.
Earlier on September 4, a Dhaka court placed Dilip on a three-day remand in the case that ended on Saturday. Rapid Action Battalion arrested the Dilip Kumar Agarwala from Gulshan in the capital on September 3.
According to a case document that filed against him, on July 19, Hridoy Ahmed was shot dead in front of the BRAC University in Badda at around 2PM during the Anti-Discrimination Students' Movement.
Shahadat Hossain Khan filed a case against 161 individuals, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, in connection with the incident on August 22
