Central leaders of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) on Friday paid tribute to the martyrs of the student-led movement in July and August and visited their graves.
JCD President Rakibul Islam Rakib and General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir visited the grave of Abu Sayeed, the first martyr of July uprising, in Rangpur in the morning.
Following the visit, they met with Abu Sayeed’s grieving family and provided financial assistance on behalf of BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
Top leaders of JCD’s Rangpur, Dinajpur, Nilphamari and Syedpur units visited Abu Sayeed's family, accompanying the central leaders. The leaders also paid their respects at the graves of five other martyrs.
Besides, leaders of different units across the country visited graves of several martyrs and prayed for peace for the departed souls.
Earlier, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other central and local leaders met with Abu Sayeed's family.
