Joint forces in drives have arrested 14 individuals over their suspicious involvement for inciting workers unrest in garment factories in Ashulia industrial area and surrounding areas of Savar.
Dhaka District Superintendent of Police Ahmed Muyeed on Friday morning acknowledged the matter and said the drives were conducted on Thursday night and arrested 11 people from Ashulia and three from Savar for their alleged involvement in attacks and vandalism at garment factories.
They are now verifying the involvement of the arrestees in the workers unrest, vandalism, attacks, the official said.
The arrestees include – Md Ismail, 24, a resident of Netrokana sadar upazila, Md Alam, 24, of Belbo Thana of same district; Farhad Mia, 24, of Tangail district, Monir Hossain, 21, of Dinajpur district; Mostafizzur Rahman Julhas, 17, of Mymensingh; Md Shakil, 23, of Gorat area of Ashulia; Asma Akhter, 28, Ghoshbag area; Shimu Akhter and Kulsum Begum of the same area; Mokhlesur Rahman, 50, of Ashulia area and Abu Hanif Mia, 47.
