Association of Bankers Bangladesh (ABB) Chairman Selim RF Hussain said on Wednesday that Bangladesh Bank (BB) will form three task forces to improve the country's banking sector.
"Three taskforces will be formed on the issues of non-performing loan management, strengthening project and legal framework to continue and accelerate the reforms undertaken by the new governor," he told reporters after meeting BB Governor Dr Ahsan H Mansur at the central bank's headquarters in the city.
Selim said the time required to form these task forces has not yet been decided. Experts from domestic and international institutions will be in these task forces, he added.
He said these task forces will be of international standard and experts from World Bank and International Monetary Fund may be included.
He, however, informed that the central bank will focus on legal framework as well as manpower and efficiency to bring down classified loans.
"During the meeting, we discussed classified loans which have increased exponentially," he added.
