Shaheen Hawladar, 45, who sustained injuries in the attack by Ansar members at the Secretariat on August 25, died at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Wednesday morning.

After being injured in the attack, Shaheen was taken to DMCH and underwent a surgery.

He was put on life support at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital where the doctors declared him dead on Wednesday morning.

Shaheen went to the Secretariat in search of his son Bishal Ahmed, who was trapped during the besiege programme of Ansar members at night on August 25.

He went there at 9:00pm after getting a phone call from Bishal.

When he arrived at the Secretariat, the Ansar members attacked Shaheen amid the chaos. It is learnt that Shaheen Hawladarw, son of Sobhan Hawladar of Mongla upazila of Bagerhat district, used to drive a car on rent.

Quoting Bishal Ahmed, DMCH Police Camp In-Charge Bachchu Mia told reporters Shaheen used to live in Khilgaon's Goran area.
