A tragic incident unfolded on Wednesday morning in Bahadurpur Haor, Kishoreganj's Ashtagram upazila, where a 17-year-old boy, Jahangir Alam, lost his life in a lightning strike while fishing. The accident occurred around 7:30 am in the Kastul Union area.
Jahangir, a resident of Aarpar village under Ashtagram Sadar Union, was out fishing with his brother-in-law, Haris. As Haris maneuvered the net in the water, Jahangir remained on the boat, managing its course. The sudden onset of rain and thunder caught them off guard. Amidst the storm, Jahangir was struck by lightning, causing him to fall from the boat and disappear beneath the water's surface.
Local fishermen and family members, upon hearing of the accident, launched a search effort. Their tireless work eventually led to the recovery of Jahangir's body. This tragic event underscores the dangers of unpredictable weather conditions, especially during outdoor activities.
The community mourns the loss of Jahangir Alam, and our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time. This incident serves as a somber reminder of the importance of safety and vigilance in adverse weather conditions.
