Gono Odhikar Parishad on Monday got its registration with the Election Commission, with ‘Truck’ as its electoral symbol.
It was founded by some 2018 quota reform movement activists and former Ducsu vice president Nurul Haque Nur is the president of party.
A notification, signed by Election Commission Secretary Shafiul Azim, mentioned that according to the provisions of the Representation of the People Order, Gono Odhikar Parishad (GOP) is registered as a political party with the Election Commission until further notice.
The truck emblem has been reserved for this party, and is the country’s 51st political party to receive registration from the EC.
On August 28, the party’s president Nur demanded registration with the EC within seven days.
Earlier, the party had applied for registration with the commission before the 12th general election, but at the time, the Election Commission did not grant the registration.
