Chief Adviser to the interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus will sit with the leaders of the major political parties today (Saturday) to discuss current affairs, reforms and election roadmap.

The interim government plans to hold discussions with various political parties before starting the necessary reform processes for the Election Commission, administration, and law enforcement agencies.

Following these reforms, the chief adviser will present a roadmap for conducting free and fair elections to the public.

The meeting is scheduled to take place at the State Guesthouse Jamuna today (Saturday) starting at 3:00pm and continuing until 8pm. However, the interim government's advisory office has confirmed that the discussions will be held for five continuous hours.

After several rounds of separate discussions, the interim government has called for an exchange of views with the political parties. Asked about the talks, Communist Party of Bangladesh General Secretary Ruhin Hossain Prince told the media they are going to take part in the discussion.

"For many days, we have been talking about the reform within the political parties. The reforms to the constitutional institutions and the reform of the electoral system must be discussed. This government can do some work. How much time will be necessary for that work will be decided through discussions," Prince said.

An official from the chief advisor's office says he wants to speak with representatives of all political parties and anyone interested may take part.

Currently, 45 political parties are registered. Many parties, including Jamaat-e Islami, are active in the political arena even without their registration.

For several days, the main opposition party BNP and other parties have already demanded talks to decide on a future course of action.

On Thursday, Fakhrul was called to the table by the chief advisor amid the BNP's repeated calls for an election roadmap and political discussions.

Sources indicate that the chief adviser has informed the BNP delegation that a roadmap on state reforms and elections might be presented to the public within the next two to three weeks.
