NARAYANGANJ, Aug 23: Three members of a family sustained burn injuries in an explosion of gas cylinder due to a leak in the line in Sonargaon Upazila of the district on Thursday.
The incident took place in Bari Sinish Village under Mograpara Union of the upazila in the morning.
The injured persons were identified as Habibur Rahman, 55, his wife Laila Begum, 50, and their son Rifat Hossain, 25, residents of the area.
All of the three are now undergoing treatment at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka.
Local sources said a fire broke out in the morning when Laila Begum was about to light the stove in the room after Fazar prayers, which left the three critically injured.
Hearing their screams, the neighbours rushed to the flat and rescued them. They then admitted the injured to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka with critical injuries.
Locals assumed that the explosion occurred due to accumulated gas from a line leakage.
Of the injured, Laila Begum's condition was stated to be critical.
