BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced today that the party's ties with China are set to deepen in the coming days.

"Our relationship with China is poised to become stronger and more advanced in the future, founded on mutual assurance, trust, and confidence," Fakhrul stated following a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen at the BNP Chairperson's office in Gulshan.

This meeting between BNP leaders and Chinese representatives marked the first such interaction in nearly a decade, according to BNP sources.

Fakhrul, along with four other BNP leaders, participated in discussions with a four-member Chinese delegation. Speaking to the media, the BNP secretary general highlighted that China believes the relationship between the Communist Party of China and the BNP will continue to grow. "We anticipate that China's investment in Bangladesh's development will further increase," he said.

He added, "We, the BNP, are pleased to have had this meeting with the Chinese ambassador after a considerable period. We view this visit, particularly following the mass protest, as a meeting of great significance."

Fakhrul also emphasized, "China has reaffirmed its commitment to the people of Bangladesh, explicitly stating that they do not subscribe to the idea of supremacy. In the geopolitical context of Bangladesh, China has always stood by the people of this country, and they continue to do so today."

He praised China's role on the world stage, stating, "We commend the important role China is playing globally. We have sincerely thanked them and expressed our gratitude for China's support to both developed and developing nations."

Following the meeting, Ambassador Yao Wen addressed the media, saying, "We discussed the current situation in Bangladesh. We hope that under the leadership of the interim government, Bangladesh will achieve stability and normalization. We fully support this interim government." "China will not interfere in the internal affairs of Bangladesh. The people of Bangladesh expect our continued support, and we remain committed to providing it," he added.

"We are working together to foster a stronger relationship between Bangladesh and China," the ambassador concluded.
