None knows how many students were killed by AL: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said on Thursday, "We still don't know how many students were killed by the Awami League leaders and activists during the student-people revolution. I urged them to surrender to the police."  
   
Speaking at the sit-in demonstration in front of BNP office at Naya Paltan he said, "The sacrifice of BNP in 16 years for the restoration of democracy is rare in the history of the world politics. Awami League filed thousands of cases against 60 lakh  BNP leaders and workers in last 15 years." 
He congratulated students for removing the Awami League government from power through an unprecedented revolution.

Mirza Fakhrul said, "History has shown again that power is not permanent. Sheikh Hasina fled from the country after crossing all limits."

Fakhrul said, "There is no account of how many people were killed to foil  the student uprising. They should be prosecuted under international humanitarian law for genocide. Those who laundered money of people should also be prosecuted."

Addressing the Awami League leaders Fakhrul said that, there is still time, don't  conspire against people and country, and surrender.  He said  BNP wants to give time to the  interim government.

Fakhrul said, "Sheikh Hasina should be tried  for genocide. Interim government will hold fair elections, people's government will be restored in Bangladesh." 

He said, "Awami League is once again trying to create chaos in the country by incite violence against minorities. There is no minority in Bangladesh, everyone is Bangladeshi."

"But the Awami League is trying to take advantage by creating an unstable situation in the country by using them," said Fakhrul.

Demanding the withdrawal of cases against Khaleda Zia and other BNP leaders and activists, he said that democracy will be strengthened by strengthening unity of students.

BNP Standing Committee members Mirza Abbas, Selima Rahman, Vice Chairman Asaduzzaman Ripon and others spoke in the rally.

BNP staged demonstration across the country on Thursday demanding the trial of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her aides. 

Activists and workers of the Dhaka Metropolitan unit of the BNP and its affiliate organisations held sit-in demonstration at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque's South Gate.  

Jatiytabadi Chhtra Dal held sit-in at the Central Shaheed Minar demanding tiral of 'autocrat Sheikh Hasina' and her 'accomplices' for murdering people.

Several hundred BNP activists also gathered in front of the BNP's central offices at Naya Paltan. A rally was held at Naya Paltan at 3pm.
