Chief Justice Syed Rafaat Ahmed on Wednesday said the tradition of submitting wealth statements of the judges would start against to ensure the accountability of the judges to the people.
The Chief Justice also said that merit would get priority in evaluating officers in tiers of the judiciary and ensure professionalism based on merit.
The Chief Justice came up with the comments while talking to the members of Law Reporters Forum (LFR) at the Supreme Court.
Elected bodies of the LRF made a courtesy call on the new Chief Justice at his office and welcomed him with a bouquet.
He said he would constitute all the High Court benches to hold proceedings from Sunday.
The forum later made a courtesy call on Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman at his office and greeted him with flowers.
The LRF' elected body include its President Ashraf-ul-Alam, General Secretary Moneruzzaman Mission, Vice President Hasan Zabed, Joint Secretary Alamgir Hossain, Treasurer Monjur Hussain, Organizing Secretary Noor Mohammad, Publicity and Publication Secretary Habibul Islam Habib, Training and Welfare Secretary Zabed Akhter, Executive Members Shamima Akter, Muhammad Yeasin, Shakil Ahmed, Zaker Hossain and Abu Naser.
The forum's former presidents, Saleh Uddin and Ashutosh Sarkar, its former general secretaries Didarul Alam and Habibur Rahman, and members Proshanto Kumar Karmoker, Bikash Narayan Dutta, Milton Anwar, Mohiuddin Faruk and Ayatullah Akhter were also present.
