Bangladesh National Cricket Team is now in Pakistan to play two World Test Championship matches against the hosts.
The first match is scheduled to be held between August 21 and 25 while the second Test is slated for August 30 and September 3.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) informed by a press release on Wednesday that the later Test is going to be closed door.
In light of ongoing construction work at the National Bank Stadium as part of preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the has made the difficult decision to hold the second Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh, without spectators in attendance, said the media release.
"We understand the vital role that our passionate spectators play in cricket, providing inspiration and motivation to our players. However, the health and safety of our fans is our utmost priority," the statement revealed. "After careful consideration of all available options, we have decided that the safest course of action is to hold the second Test in front of an empty stadium".
"As a result of this decision, ticket sales have been suspended with immediate effect. Fans who have already purchased tickets will receive a full refund automatically, with the amount credited to the account details provided at the time of purchase".
"While we deeply regret any inconvenience this may cause, we want to assure our valued fans that the ongoing stadium upgrades are aimed at enhancing their experience. The renovations are part of our commitment to making the venue more spectator-friendly and preparing it for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which will be the first ICC event hosted in Pakistan since 1996."
The 2025 Champions Trophy will be Pakistan's first major international event since a suspension was enforced following the terrorist attack on Sri Lanka's team bus during a Test match in Lahore.
Pakistan was awarded the hosting rights for the 2023 Asia Cup, but India refused to travel there due to ongoing political tensions. Consequently, a "hybrid model" was implemented, with India playing all their matches, including the final, in Sri Lanka.
Reports indicate that India may once again be unwilling to travel to Pakistan for next year's tournament, which could lead to another "hybrid model" being devised.
