Case against Rozina Islam withdrawn

A case filed against Prothom Alo journalist Rozina Islam under Official Secrets Act has been withdrawn.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sultan Sohag Uddin passed the order after accepting the final report on Wednesday.

Rozina Islam was detained in May 2021 after a health ministry official accused her of photographing official documents within the ministry’s Secretariat. As part of her bail conditions, she was required to surrender her passport.

Earlier in the day, Law, justice and parliamentary affairs ministry adviser Asif Nazrul has said that cases filed against journalist Rozina Islam and Nagorik Oikya President Mahmudur Rahman Manna will be withdrawn.
