Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has instructed to freeze all bank accounts belonging to former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, his wife, and their children. The action also extends to the accounts of any businesses owned by the family.
The BFIU has further requested detailed transaction histories of these accounts.
A senior BFIU official confirmed the development on Tuesday.
According to the official, the order affects both personal and business accounts under names of Asaduzzaman Khan, his wife Lutful Tahmina Khan, son Safi Muddassir Khan, and daughter Safia Tasnim Khan.
The directive, issued under the Anti-Money Laundering Act of 2012, stipulates that no transactions may occur from these accounts for next 30 days. The freeze may be extended further if necessary, as stated in the BFIU’s letter.
