The Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company (BAPEX) has found gas at four levels after drilling a well in Sonaimuri upazila of Noakhali district.

Md Asaduzzaman, the Begumganj-4 (West) valuation, well drilling in-charge confirmed the matter on Tuesday (August 13).

The flare stack was lit at the well near Wasekpur village in Ambarnagar union on Monday, he added.

He said, the well was officially inaugurated on April 29. The drilling was completed ahead of schedule and now each layer of the well will be tested to determine the gas reserve.
BAPEX says it expects to initially extract 10 million cubic feet of gas per day from each of the four zones of the well and connect it to the national grid through Bakhrabad.
