Members of Hindu communities on Monday blocked the capital's Shahbagh Intersection for the fourth consecutive day, protesting the recent attacks on minority communities across the country.
Under the banner of the Bangladesh Hindu Jagaran Mancha, the protesters held a rally and took position in the afternoon.
The blockade caused severe traffic jams in and around the area.
Members of the Hindu communities have held demonstration by blocking the Shahbagh Intersection since August 9.
Their immediate demand to the interim government is to ensure safety of the minorities.
They also demanded formation of a minority affairs ministry, a minority protection commission, enactment and enforcement of strict laws to prevent all forms of attacks on minorities and reservation of 10 per cent parliamentary seats for minorities.
However, speakers at the rally praised initiatives of various Islamic groups in protecting Hindu temples and establishments.
Calling former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina a dictator, speakers at the rally said the Hindu community would not turn into anyone's vote bank.
