Sunamganj’s tourism in crisis

Dear Sir

The tourism sector in Sunamganj is reeling from a devastating impact, with losses estimated at approximately Tk 50 crore due to a significant decline in visitors, compounded by the recent floods that ravaged the region. This year's monsoon season, usually a peak period for tourism in the area, has seen a stark absence of the usual influx of visitors, leaving once-bustling attractions like Tanguar Haor, Niladri Lake, and Jadukata River eerily deserted.

Local entrepreneurs, who invested heavily in the tourism infrastructure, are bearing the brunt of this crisis.  Despite the local administration's efforts to reopen tourist spots following the floods, the damage to the tourism industry has already been done. It is crucial for the government and relevant authorities to provide immediate support to these entrepreneurs and the broader tourism sector to help them recover from this unprecedented setback.

Sunamganj's unique attractions are an integral part of our cultural and economic landscape, and swift action is needed to restore this vital sector to its former glory.
