The Hindu community people have pledged to protect communal harmony in districts including Moulvibazar and Panchagarh, on Sunday.
They also protested the attacks on the minority communities across the country.
MOULVIBAZAR: Thousands of people brought out a protest rally and formed a human chain on Sunday in the district, protesting attacks on local minority communities including vandalism, looting, and torching of their houses, temples, and businesses.
A protest rally was carried out which marched through main streets of the district town before concluding back on the Moulvibazar Press Club premises.
Then, a human chain was formed at around 10 am under the banner of "Bangladesh Sanatani Samaj" in front of the District Press Club.
People from different parts of the district and various professions and social strata within the minority community participated in the event.
During the rally, speakers highlighted threats of forced migration faced by Hindus in various regions of the country.
They also expressed that the continuing indiscriminate violence against Hindu community was a result of lack of justice for past atrocities.
The protesters strongly demanded an end to violence against minorities nationwide and called for perpetrators to be identified and reprimanded with exemplary punishment.
PANCHAGARH: The Hindu community in Boda and Debiganj upazilas have pledged to protect communal harmony in the district.
Hindu, Buddhist and Christian Kalyan Front of the district unit have arranged a conference on the Central Sahid Miner premises in the town on Sunday afternoon.
The Hindu leaders said that, "We have been born in Bangladesh. We will not go anywhere from Bangladesh."
Convener of the Kalyan Front of Panchagarh Unit Premasish Kumar Ray presided over the programme.
Bangladesh Hindu, Buddhist and Christian Kalyan Front Chairman Bijon Kanti Sarker addressed the programme as the chief guest.
Central BNP Pally Unnayan Secretary and Zila BNP Member Secretary Forhad Hossein Azad, and Kalyan Front General Secretary SN Torun Dey, among others, were also present at that time.
Former Mayor Tohidul Islam and Kalyan Front leader and retired teacher Susil Chandra conducted the event.
