A meeting of the Rajshahi District Law and Order Committee was held in the city on Sunday with the call for restoring discipline, peace and tranquillity everywhere in the society.
The meeting was held in the conference room of the deputy commissioner's (DC) office in the city.
Rajshahi DC Shamim Ahmed presided over the meeting.
Additional District Magistrate Mirja Imam uddin, Additional Superintendent of Police Abu Saleh Muhammad Ashraful Alam, District Civil Surgeon Dr Abu Sayeed Muhammad Faruque and Deputy Director of the Department of Narcotics Control Alamgir Hossain, among others, were also present at the programme.
The meeting was apprised that utmost measures were taken to make the law and order situation normalised with integrated efforts of all offices in the district.
In this regard, Bangladesh Army remained in highest alert to control the law and order. Mainly, Bangladesh Army has been working with coordination of upazila administrations and police stations.
DC Shamim Ahmed said that extent of loss in district police office is comparatively less but the office of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police has been affected badly. Necessary measures were taken to repair and renovate the affected public installations.
Need-based works of recovering the goods looted from different government offices are continuing. He also said that Bangladesh Army has been working to boost the mental strength of police forces. Besides, adequate members of BGB and Ansar-VDP were deployed.
Ansar-VDP District Commandant Rakibul Islam, Editor of Daily Sonali Sangbad Liakat Ali, Mondamala Pourashava Mayor Saidur Rahman and President of Rajshahi Press Club Saidur Rahman also joined the meeting.
