Two minor children of a family drowned in a ditch at Santhia upazila in Pabna district on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Ruhan, 3, son of Imran Hossain from Dhulauri Purbapara village, and Yeamin, 4, son of Shahin Alam, from the same village.
Santhia Police Station officer-in-charge Anwar Hossain confirmed the deaths.
According to the victims family, they both along with Ruhan's mother Ratna Khatun went to wash clothes by Ichamati River near their house around 11am on Monday. Unbeknownst to her, the duo wandered off to a nearby ditch to pick water lilies and slipped into the waterbody.
Later, the family members rescued them and took to Santhia Upazila Health Complex where the minors were declared as dead.
No case has been filed yet in this regard and legal actions were underway in this regard, added the OC.
