Bangladesh Bank deputy governor Nurun Nahar will carry out the governor's responsibilities at the central bank following the resignation of Abdur Rouf Talukder.
An office order, signed by Financial Institutions Division deputy secretary Afsana Bilkis, on Sunday mentioned that Nurun Nahar would carry out the duty in the absence of the governor.
The division also instructed that deputy governors of the central bank will continue their day-to-day activities until the new governor is appointed.
Earlier, on Friday, central bank governor Abdur Rouf Talukder resigned from his post citing personal reasons. He took charge as the 12th governor on July 12, 2022 for a four-year term.
Meanwhile, Nurun Nahar joined as the deputy governor on July 2, 2023. Before that, she was the most senior executive director (Grade-1) of the Bangladesh Bank.
