Mosques across the country have been asked to alert people about planned dacoities in their localities through loudspeakers every hour from 8 PM to midnight, starting from Thursday.
The ad-hoc office of the interim government's Chief Adviser, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, issued the call in a cautionary message from Dhaka on Thursday.
In the message, locals are urged to come forward to ensure the safety and security of their lives and properties, as a group of people, instigated by a vested and terrorist faction, is carrying out planned sabotage to create anarchy in the country.
"You are aware that incidents of robberies and rapes are taking place in localities. We must unite without panicking," the message reads.
It further states: "We will resist the groups of robbers and the vested faction in the same way we, the anti-discrimination student-people, resisted possible attacks on temples and houses of people of different religions over the last few days and freed the country from autocracy."
The message urges the formation of a team of at least 20 people to guard each area as an anti-robbery committee in localities.
"We must come forward, regardless of party affiliation or opinion, to ensure the safety of our lives and properties," it continues.
The message also states that the names of at least three responsible youths and elderly persons from each locality should be discussed with everyone after prayers.
