Former chief of the Detective Branch (DB) of police and additional commissioner (Crime and Ops) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Mohammad Harun ar Rashid was detained at the Dhaka airport.
However, Harun himself has claimed that he was not been detained. "I'm at home now."
A state-run organisation detained him at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Tuesday afternoon.
The intelligence sources said Harun was questioned at whose directive he had picked up six coordinators of Anti-Discriminatory Students' Movement when he was the head of the DB, and why did he forced the coordinators to issue statement forcibly.
Harun was also asked why had picked up people sending DB teams at homes indiscriminately in order to suppress the students-people's movement.
The former DB chief was also asked why he behaved desperately with people of different opinions including politicians.
Additional IGP didn't allow former state minister for home affairs Sohel Taj when he went to meet the six coordinators. At that time, Harun said, "It would not be possible to mee six coordinators without the permission of higher authorities."
When he was asked when the coordinators would be freed, Harun said, "They will be released when directive will come from the higher authorities."
In this regard, Harun was asked to know who were those higher authorities.
When Harun was Additional SP, he physically assaulted the then opposition chief whip Zainul Abedin Farooque on July 6, 2011.
