Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Bangladesh Prime Minister on Monday. She left the country with her sister Sheikh Rehana. Following her departure, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy recently spoke to the BBC on her mother's reluctance to return to politics.

While speaking to BBC he said, "She (Sheikh Hasina) is deeply disheartened. Despite her hard work, some people have stood against her, and as a result, she has no desire to return to politics."
Sajeeb Wazed Joy served as an unpaid advisor on information and communication technology during Sheikh Hasina's tenure as Prime Minister.

He also mentioned that his mother had considered resigning as early as Sunday.
