NARAYANGANJ, Aug 4: A young man was stabbed to death by miscreants in the city on Saturday.
The incident took place in Haziganj area of the city at noon.
The deceased was identified as Shipon Mia, son of Abdul Hanif Mia of Olympia area under Bandar Upazila in the district. He was a garments worker by profession and lived in a rented house owned by one Mala in the city.
It was known that a group of miscreants attacked on Shipon and stabbed him, leaving him dead on the spot.
Later on, locals spotted his body inside Haziganj Killa at noon and informed the matter to the police.
Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene and sent it to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
The deceased's mother Shilpi Begum said Shipon did not return home on Friday night.
Police suspected that he might have been killed by his friends over drugs business, because he used to consume and sell drugs.
Sub-Inspector of Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station Abdul Rahim confirmed the incident, adding that the law enforcers are investigating the matter and trying to detain those involved in the killing.
