Protesters on Saturday declared their one point demand calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Cabinet.

Besides, they demanded formation of an inclusive national government under the leadership of a person acceptable to all.

Nahid Islam, key Coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, made the announcement from a mammoth rally at the base of Central Shaheed Minar in the capital in the afternoon.

Coordinator Hasnat Abdullah, Sarjis Alam and some of the organisers of the movement were present at that time.

Rejecting dialogue with the government, Nahid said, "One cannot ask a killer government for justice or sit for talks with them. The time to ask forgiveness has passed. When there was still time, the government conducted block raids to arrest and torture students. We will not come to any agreement when Akhtar Hossain, Arif Sohel and many others are in jail."

The Coordinators also announced total non-cooperation, beginning from today for an indefinite period.
"The movement to press one-point demand will continue until the government resigns," said Coordinator Hasnat Abdullah.

They said instead of prosecuting the recent massacre, the government was arbitrarily arresting and torturing students by using lethal firearms.

"The vast majority of people, including students, teachers, workers and labourers feel that impartial trial and investigation is not possible under this government," said a statement of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, adding, "Hence, we announce a one-point demand for the resignation of the current government."

Meanwhile, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement came up with a set of points for people to make the non-cooperation movement successful.

They requested people of the country not to pay any tax, refrain from paying any kind of utility bills, close all government and private institutions, offices, courts, mills and factories, and not to attend offices.

"Collect your salary at the end of the month," said the directives.

Other points include closing of educational institutions, expatriates refraining from sending any remittance to the country through banking channels, boycotting all government meetings, seminars and events.

They requested port workers not go to work and unload any goods.
"No mills and factories will run in the country. RMG workers will not go to work. Public transport will be closed; workers will not go to work.

Banks will only remain open on Sundays for urgent transactions. Police will only perform their routine duties at their stations. They will not perform any protocol, riot or protest duties," according to the directives.

Moreover, the 15 points added, "Not a single taka should be smuggled out of the country, and no offshore transactions will take place. Except BGB and Navy, other forces will not perform duty outside the cantonment. BGB and Navy will be in their barracks and coastal areas. Bureaucrats will not go to the Secretariat; DCs or upazila officials will not go to their respective offices. Luxury goods shops, showrooms, shops, hotels, motels and restaurants will be closed."

However, hospitals, pharmacies, emergency transport services such as transportation of medicine and medical equipment, ambulance services, fire service, media, transportation of daily necessities, emergency internet service, emergency relief assistance and transport services of officers and employees on duty in this sector will be out of the purview of these directives and remain functional.
Shops of essential commodities will be open from 11:00am to 1:00pm.
