The cricketers of the Bangladesh national team started practicing on August 3 at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium ahead of their tour to Pakistan this month.
Initially, the players were supposed to run on the athletics track at the Bangabandhu Stadium in the morning. However, due to rain, this plan was canceled and the cricketers participated in a fitness test in the gym instead.
Today, 14 cricketers participated in the fitness test. Several national team players are currently touring Australia with the BCB HP team, while Shakib Al Hasan and Shariful Islam are now playing in the Major League in Canada. Captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto is suffering from an eye problem. As a result, many players were absent from the fitness test.
"Before going to the World Cup, we did a fitness test and then we went. And today was its follow-up testing. So, we had a running test in the follow-up testing," BCB physio Bayjedul Islam Khan Bayzid told the media in Mirpur. "There were some strength tests. But we could not do the running test because of the weather. We did the strength test together and all those who were there, were the members of the Test side."
When asked if the camp is only for the Test cricketers Bayjedul replied, "It's not only for Test cricketers but for all players of the Bangladesh national team. Mushfiqur Rahim was absent today but appeared for this test on July 16."
The physio also revealed their next plan. In this regard he further said, "Practice will start today. The skill camp will start tomorrow. As for the running test, the next session will depend on the weather and the availability of the cricketers.
Many players will join the 'A' team and the national team program. So if the time is found, it will be planned again." The Bangladesh national team is scheduled to visit Pakistan on August 16 to play two matches, which are the parts of the ICC Test Championship. The first Test will start on August 21 in Rawalpindi, followed by the second Test in Karachi from August 30.
