Apart from the one-point demand of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina government's resignation, the Anti-Discrimination Students' Movement has demanded for the formation of an inclusive national government.
Nahid Islam, one of the coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Students' Movement, placed the demand at a rally of students and people at the Central Shaheed Minar premises in the capital on Saturday (August 3) afternoon.
He said, "We have announced programme demanding the resignation of present autocratic government. At the same time, we demand the formation of an acceptable and inclusive national government led by an individual acceptable to all."
Strongly criticising the government's role, he said, "What justice would we seek from them? They are the killers. We are forcibly taken to the DB office. We have got released owing to your movement. Firing also has happened today. In such a situation, we announce one-point demand. Sheikh Hasina said doors for talks are open. She understood earlier that the time has come to keep the doors open. We are coming. She will have to resign for the murders and killings. She must be brought to justice for brutal murders. Not only Sheikh Hasina, all her cabinet members must have to resign."
Nahid Islam further said: "Our one-point demand is Sheikh Hasina's resignation and trial of looting and corruption of this government. We call upon people from all strata of the society to join our movement. We will form a combined platform of parties discussing with all. All-out non-cooperation movement will begin on Sunday."
At that time, he said: "We will not accept is internet is suspended and curfew is declared. Now students and people will have to come forward. If the government stand against people, they will not accept it. If you open fire, we will try to resist you. We will try all the mass murders on the soil of Bangladesh."
