Three people, including a woman and her son, were killed in a head-on collision between a CNG run auto-rickshaw and a bus at Begumganj upazila in Noakhali district on Saturday morning.
The accident took place at around 10:00 AM in Dokaghor area under Durgapur union on the Noakhali-Feni regional highway in the upazila.
The deceased were identified as CNG driver Josim Uddin, 55, his mother Tahera Begum, 45, and Josim's cousin's wife Kohinur Begum, 45, all residents of Durgapur union.
Eyewitnesses said a Laxmipur-bound Star Line Paribohon bus collided with the CNG-run auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction, leaving the trio dead on the spot.
Police have been sent to the spot after receiving information, said Ruhul Amin, officer-in-charge of Chandragonj Highway Police Station.
The vehicles involved in the incident have been seized, he added.
