The government has said it will provide legal assistance to candidates sitting for the Higher Secondary Certificate examinations who were detained amid the violence surrounding the quota reform movement.
On Friday, the ministry's public relations officer, MA Khair, said: "Lawyers have been appointed to provide legal assistance to the detained examinees."
The ministry has also requested the public to send information about the detained candidates along with their case numbers to
[email protected].
According to the public relations officer, three candidates are already out on bail. Of them, two were released from jail. Arrangements for the bail of two more students from the capital's Rajuk Uttara Model College and BAF Shaheen College will be made on Sunday.
On Thursday, the home ministry issued a notification stating that the government will provide legal assistance if the detained HSC examinees submit their admit card and other necessary documents to the court while applying for bail.
The notification also said: "In addition, students who do not have any serious charges against them will get legal assistance from the government while applying for bail." —bdnews24.com
