Students and teachers of the Jahangirnagar University (JU) brought out a procession singing songs on the campus on Thursday demanding the release of Jahangirnagar University (JU) coordinator of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Arif Sohel and protesting harassment of a Dhaka University (DU) teacher.

As per the schedule, the students and the teachers started gathering at the university’s Central Shaheed Minar around 2pm, reports UNB.

Addressing the protest event, the university’s Environmental Science department Prof Jamal Uddun Runu said, “Today we will protest the killing of the new generation of freedom fighters and at the same time condemn the government's lies. We will walk on the path shown by the students and will not accept the lies of the ruling party.”

Besides, History department Prof Golam Rabbani recited ‘Bidrohi’, the famous rebel poem of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.
Bringing the protest procession from the Shaheed Minar area it again ended there after parading several roads on the campus.
