Businessman David gets bail in Setu Bhaban vandalism case

A Dhaka court has granted bail to garment exporter KM Rezaul Hasanat David, chairman and CEO of Viyellatex Group, in a case filed over vandalising and setting Setu Bhaban in Dhaka on fire on July 18.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jashim on Wednesday afternoon after hearing both sides granted bail until the submission of a police report.

Police arrested David around 12:30pm on July 25 for allegedly financing the perpetrators for committing such offences.

On July 25, a Dhaka court placed former Jatiya Party lawmaker Barrister Andaleeve Rahman Partho and businessman Rezaul Hasanat David on a five-day remand each in the case.

On July 30, David was sent to jail after remand. The court granted another three-day remand for Partho.

Caretaker of the Setu Bhaban Rabiul Islam filed a case with Banani police station on July 18. According to the case statement, the bridge building suffered a loss of Tk 300 crore.
