Two people, including the driver of a battery-powered auto-rickshaw, were killed after being crushed by a bus in Mymensingh's Tarakanda.
The accident happened around 7 am on Wednesday (July 31) at Kakni Bazar on the Phulpur-Mymensingh road.
The dead were Sohel Mia, 28, son of late Abdur Rashid of Nalchapra area of the upazila, and Harunur Rashid, 40, son of late Abbas Ali of Tenguliakanda area.
According to police and locals, a Dhaka-bound bus belonging to 'Janani Paribahan' from Bakshiganj collided head-on with an auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction when it reached Kakni area. Two people, including the auto-rickshaw driver, died on the spot.
At that time, bus lost control and entered a shop. Later, when the locals informed police station, the police went to the spot and recovered the bodies.
Tarakanda Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Sajib Kumar Das confirmed it.
SI Sajib Kumar Das said the body was recovered and brought to the police station. Following the request of the relatives of the deceased, the bodies were handed over without autopsy. Legal action is pending in this case.
