Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visits Central Police Hospital at Rajarbagh on Sunday afternoon to check on the injured victims of the recent nationwide violence
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) hospital at Shahbagh and Central Police Hospital at Rajarbagh on Sunday afternoon to check on the injured victims of the recent nationwide violence, reports UNB.
The Prime Minister reached the police hospital at 5:00 pm, followed by a visit to BSMMU, where she inquired about the condition of those undergoing treatment after being attacked during the student movement for public service quota reform.
The premier provided necessary instructions to the hospital authorities to ensure the victims receive proper treatment. Witnessing the severity of the injuries and hearing about the brutality of the attacks, she was visibly emotional, struggling to hold back tears.
During her visit to BSMMU, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Deen Mohd. Noorul Huq and BSMMU Hospital Director Brig. Gen. Dr. Md Rezaur Rahman briefed the Prime Minister on the treatment measures taken for the injured.
At the Central Police Hospital, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun were among the officials present.
As many as 39 police members are now undergoing treatment at the Central Police Hospital.
Three police members were killed and some 1,131 others injured in the recent countrywide mayhem.
Accompanying the Prime Minister on her visits were Sheikh Helal, MP, Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain, PM's Principal Secretary M Tofazzel Hossain Miah, PM's Press Secretary Md Nayeemul Islam Khan, and PM's Personal Physician Prof Dr. ABM Abdullah.
Earlier, Sheikh Hasina had visited Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Friday and the National Institute of Traumatology & Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) on Saturday to inspect other victims of the violence.
She assured all victims of proper treatment and wished them a speedy recovery.
Additionally, the Prime Minister visited the vandalized metro rail station at Mirpur 10 on Thursday, Bangladesh Television (BTV) Bhaban in Rampura on Friday, and the violence-ravaged Setu Bhaban, Department of Disaster Management building, and the toll plaza of the Elevated Expressway at Mohakhali on Saturday.
