5 shops burnt in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, July 27: At least five different kinds of shops and a dwelling house were gutted in a devastating fire at Manikpur village of Kanchonnagar union under Fatikchari upazila of the district in the early hours of Saturday.

Kamal Uddin Chowdhury, Station Officer of the Fire Service and Civil Defense of Fatikchari upazila said the fire originated from a cooking oven of a tea stall of Md Selim in the area at around 3 am and engulfed the adjoining shops and house. One fire fighting unit from Fatikchari upazila headquarters rushed to the spot and brought the flame under control with the help of locals at around 4am.    —BSS
