Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a member of the banned militant outfit Ansar Al Islam, who escaped from Narsingdi District Jail, in Narayanganj on Wedbesday night.
The arrested militant member is Md Faruque Ahmed, 43, a resident of Nuralapur in Madhabdi of Narsingdi,
RAB arrested him from one of his relatives house in Premerbazar area under Sonargaon upazila in the district.
Tanvir Mahmud Pasha, commanding officer of RAB-11, informed this in a press conference held its headquarter on Thursday afternoon.
RAB earlier arrested Faruque on March 24, 2022, for his involvement in militant acts. Since then, he was confined at Narsingdi District Jail, he added.
Tanvir Mahmud said thousands of people broke into the prison during the recent Quota Reform Movement. At that time, 826 prisoners, including nine militants broke out and escaped from the prison.
