Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel on Wednesday said the government is monitoring the overall situation in the country and will reopen educational institutions after ensuring 100 per cent safety of students.
The Education Minister said the government is not considering reopening of educational institutions at this moment.
He said this while talking to reporters at the Secretariat.
"I cannot consider opening of educational institutions without ensuring 100 per cent safety of students," said Nowfel.
Regarding ultimatum to reopen educational institutions by Thursday given by the quota reform movement leaders, he said "And it is by no means desirable to destabilise the situation by making ultimatums."
He added, "We are still monitoring the situation."
"There is another issue. There are ongoing higher secondary examinations. Our first priority now is to resume the examinations," Nowfel said.
He observed that from the beginning of the quota reform movement, those who announce programmes said something and those who were on the streets implemented something else.
"The announcement makers say that their programmes will be held peacefully, but those who are implementing it are not keeping it in a peaceful process," said the Minister.
The Education Minister said they are monitoring situations in different districts separately.
