Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen on Thursday said that the "quota reform movement" is Bangladesh's "internal matter."
"China believes that the people and the government of Bangladesh are fully capable of establishing and maintaining peace in the country," the Chinese Ambassador said while responding to a question from a journalist over the issue at the Foreign Ministry following a meeting with the Foreign Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud.

However, Ambassador Yao told reporters that under the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation, China is working to release two billion US dollars for Bangladesh. "Chinese Special envoy on Asian affairs will be visiting Bangladesh soon," Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen said. Meanwhile, Foreign Ministry release has said that, Foreign Minister Hasan discussed the Rohingya issue during the meeting.
"China agrees that there is no other solution except safe repatriation of the Rohingyas to their homeland. It is a big problem for Bangladesh," he said, noting that conflict broke out in Myanmar and it is intensifying in Rakhine, too. Ambassador said. Bangladesh is hosting nearly 1.3 million Rohingyas in Cox's Bazar and Bhasan Char with babies born every year.
