Coordinators of Anti-Discriminatory Movement have rejected outright the proposal to sit with the government in the context of ongoing situation over the quota reform issue in government jobs.
On Thursday (July 18), several coordinators of Anti-Discriminatory Student Movement, posted the decision on their respective Facebook pages.
Coordinator Sarjis Alam in his Facebook status said, "Firing in one hand and proposal for dialogue on the other. How dialogue can take place sitting on the blood of my brothers?"
Another coordinator Hasnat Abdullah writes in his Facebook page, "No dialogue crossing blood."
Coordinator Asif Mahmud writes on his Facebook page, "No dialogue can take place with bullets. My death is much better that betray with this blood."
Co-coordinator Abdullah Salehin Ayan writes, "None will be allowed to sit in dialogue betraying with our own blood."
Dhaka University student MA Sayeed writes on his Facebook page, "I'm making clear of my position as one of the co-coordinators. Don't want any talks ignoring so many lives. No dialogue will take place. If they had good intention, they would have seated for talks in so many days. If anyone of the coordinators sit in dialogue, you will understand that they would do so without the consent of other coordinators."
Earlier, Law minister Anisul Huq said the government agrees in principle on quota reform and is ready to hold talks with the quota reform protesters.
"Prime Minister has given me and Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury the responsibility to hold talks with them. We want to have talks with them whenever they want, if they want to hold talks, we are ready to do this," he said while briefing the media on Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban premises Thursday afternoon.
"I want to call upon them, and request them to withdraw or suspend their movements," he added.
